Trans and queer, Joan of Arc challenged gender norms and refused to accept the roles imposed on women at the time.

It is essential that we do not allow the far right to appropriate Joan of Arc: it is up to us, the roller derby community, to reaffirm the feminist and queer significance of her struggles.

The fluid track beneath the character evokes a roller derby flat track, visually linking the local landscape (the Loire) and the dynamism of our sport.

The colors of the LGBTQIA+ flag echo the queer struggles fought in and by the roller derby community.

Placed at the heart, this "+" embodies the inclusion of minority identities that we champion.

The organizing team and the EDFM+ collective knew that this artistic, semiotic, and political choice could raise legitimate questions.
That's why we are delighted to share with you this thoughtful work, which is committed to taking back symbols from the far right that never belonged to them in the first place.
